Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu Altitude: 1400m/4600ft Overnight in Kathmandu Meal Included: Welcome Dinner

Namaste - Welcome to Nepal, as one of the enchanting travel destinations in the world, Nepal offers a heady mixture of unique culture proudly preserved, mind boggling adventure and remarkable natural beauty. Upon arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu, you will be welcomed by our guide or representative. A short drive of 20-30 minutes will bring you to your concerned hotel. Non-alcoholic welcome drink on arrival, followed by check-in formalities and itinerary briefing with our representatives. (Hotel check-in at 1400hrs.) In the evening, welcome dinner hosted at one of the typical Nepalese restaurants with local music and ethnic dance.

Day 02Kathmandu City Tour – Swayambhunath & Boudhanath Overnight in Kathmandu Meal Included: Breakfast

After breakfast, our guide will pick you up for a full day's excursion. During the trip, you will visit two sites listed as UNESCO world heritage sites.
Swayambhunath (The Monkey Temple) – A hilltop Buddhist stupa surrounded by Hindu and Buddhist shrines along with monkeys is peaceful and calm hill commands the picturesque view of the Kathmandu valley and splendid panorama of the Himalayan range. Its lofty white dome and glittering golden spire are visible for many miles and from all sides of the valley. Historical records found on a stone inscription give evidence that the stupa was already an important Buddhist pilgrimage destination by the 5th century AD. Its origin, however, dates to a much earlier time, long before the arrival of Buddhism into the valley.

Further, we carry on the sightseeing tour of Boudhanath, one of the principal Buddhism sanctuaries surrounded by numerous monasteries and Tibetan boutiques. From the outside, the streets of Boudha feel like a string of shops, homeless street bulls, and dogs, clothing stores, a mall, laced with dusty air from the roads. It doesn't appear very attractive but exploring this area may be of interest to travelers looking for deeper finds. There are over 50 monasteries in these surrounding areas and can easily visit some of the temples and appreciate them.

Day 03Explore Namo Buddha (1750m) Overnight in Kathmandu Meal Included: Breakfast

After breakfast, drive to Namo Buddha 38km east of Kathmandu to start our tour. Namo Buddha is a very sacred place for Buddhists. There are a couple of monasteries and ancient stupa erected in which a person can make an offering, pray and light butter lamps. You will find a stone sculpture and legend relating to Buddha, who cut all his body parts and gave them to a starving tigress along with her cubs.

Explore the rest of the day here at your own pace or take a short walk near the village and observe the lifestyle of this locality. Later drive to Kathmandu.

Day 04Drive to Lumbini (161m/528ft) Overnight in Lumbini Meals Included: Breakfast

After breakfast, we drive to Lumbini (272km/approx. 8hours) which is situated in the lowlands of Nepal's Terai plain. Lumbini is part of a huge UNESCO World Heritage Site. It consists of dozen of monasteries built by several Buddhist countries (all in their national styles), the sacred Bodhi tree, an ancient bathing pond, the renowned Ashoka pillar, and the Mayadevi Temple. 

On arrival, check-in at the hotel.

Day 05Explore Lumbini and archeological sites of Kapilvastu Overnight in Lumbini Meals Included: Breakfast

After breakfast, guided sightseeing to explore the major architectural, historical and religious sites of Lumbini. Start your trip to antique Mayadevi temple, then visit captivating gardens followed by a visit to different monasteries, peace pagoda and museum.
Later we drive to religious and archeological sites of Tilaurakot and its surrounding place like Gotihawa, Kudan, Siddaharthanagar, Niglihawa, Sagarhawa. Tilaurakot is the ancient Kapilvastu - the capital of Shakya which is 28km west from Lumbini. Kudan was where Buddha was received by his father (King Suddhodana) after his access to enlightenment. It was said that King Suddhodana built the Kudan (Nigrodharma Park) especially for the accommodation of Buddha and his followers. Likewise, Gotihawa is another place to visit in Lumbini. Gotihawa is the birthplace of Krakuchanda Buddha but Niglihawa is the place where Kanakmuni Buddha was born. Another religious site of Lumbini is Sagarhawa and it is the archaeological findings which are also called the "place of the massacre of the Shakyas". Return to the hotel.

Day 06Visit to Devdaha and Ramgram. Drive to Kathmandu Overnight in Kathmandu Meals Included: Breakfast

After breakfast, we'll drive to another archaeological site at Devdaha and Ramgram. Devaha is the ancient capital of the Koliya Kingdom. It is the maternal hometown of Queen Mayadevi (mother), Prajapati Gautami (stepmother), Princess Yasodhara (consort) and where Prince Siddhartha had spent his childhood. Ramgram is the brick mound on the bank of Jharahi River. It is a seven-meter high brick stupa consisting of the relic of Lord Buddha. The stupa was built by the king of Ramgram, who was the eighth king to obtain the Buddha's relics.

After the tour, we continue for a long drive back to Kathmandu. On arrival, check-in at the hotel.

Day 07Fly Kathmandu – Home

After breakfast, in time transfer to Kathmandu International airport to take onward destination flight. (This day room shall be provided till 1200noon.)

Even for the most seasoned traveler, it's still important to be up to speed on Nepal before you arrive in the country. So here are few things to be considered: 

Best Season 

Nepal has five season temperate climate. Due to its location, landscape and power outages those seasons often dictate when the best time to visit.

Autumn: The peak tourist season is in the autumn between September to late November. This is just after the monsoon season so the air is dry and clear. This is perfect time for visiting Nepal if you are going trekking also.

Winter: December and January are cold winter months throughout Nepal. Though it doesn't snow in any of the main non-trekking cities in Nepal it does hit freezing.

Spring: February to April is Nepal's second busiest tourist season. The climate starts cold but in preceding months get increasingly warm. Flowers in the valleys begin to bloom and there's little rain. It does however get quite hazy so mountain views will be lessened.

Summer: May to June is the start of the pre-monsoon summer. It gets hot and humid with several showers on the hottest of days. Climate change has meant a lengthening of showers. 

Summer (monsoon): June to late August is when the monsoon rains hit Nepal. Climate change again mean that the monsoon may be earlier or later than this. Rain are heavier and there's a risk of flooding in places. The sky is heavy with cloud but it also means blooming flowers and lush green valleys.

Nepal Visa/Entry Requirement 

Nepal visa can be obtained on arrival at the Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu. Your passport needs to be valid for 6 months after your return dates and two passport-size photo with a light background. Nationals of SAARC countries and China do not need visa when visiting Nepal. As per this rule, Indian nationals do not require visa. Transit visa is provided for foreign nationality for 3 days. Visa must be obtained for staying over the initial period of three days.

Multiple entry 15 days - US$ 30 or equivalent convertible currency

Multiple entry 30 days - US$ 50 or equivalent convertible currency

Money Matter

Always keep your encashment receipt while making foreign exchange payments or exchanging rupees from any foreign currency. You might need the receipt to exchange the money left over from your trip before you leave. Service providers such as hotels, travel agencies, and airlines accept foreign currency for payment of service provided. American Express, Master and Visa are widely accepted by the tourism service providers.  ATM machines are available in most of the cities but many local banks do not offer withdraw service to the foreign cards. You can contact some international banks such as Standard Chartered, Nabil, SBI and Everest to withdraw money from ATM. 

Health Advice

No vaccinations are required. But it's wise to be inoculated against typhoid and hepatitis A. Depending on how long you plan to stay, you may also want to get vaccinations for rabies, meningitis and Japanese encephalitis. We recommends to carry mosquito repellents if you are visiting in summer can be wise or you can buy it in Kathmandu if you are travelling to the southern plain of Nepal. Consulting your doctor is a better idea.

People/Language/Time Difference/Currency

Nepal is a country of mixed settlements of various ethnic groups and castes. They welcome travelers with their best hospitality. Nepalese greet each other by saying "Namaste" joining both palms together meaning "I salute the divine in you". It is used both when people meet and depart. Nepali is the official language. Other Hindu dialects are spoken however English is widely spoken across the country.

The GMT of Nepal is +5:45 and currency used is Nepalese Rupees (NPR).

Accommodations 

For Kathmandu and Lumbini tours, we use 3 star hotels which are available for the overnight. Based on your requirement, we can arrange suitable budget hotels from standard, deluxe to luxury.

Meals 
All meals in hotels include only breakfast. And on the day of arrival, there is welcome cultural dinner hosted in typical and authentic Nepali restaurant.

Transportation 

In every trip, we use our private transport based on your itinerary. We provide car for 1-3 person, jeep or tourist van for up to 10 persons. We also provide option for flight from Kathmandu to Bhairawa which will be 30 minutes flight instead of 7-8 hours' drive. We recommends to keep at least one-way by road so that you can see landscape and visit natural places along the way. From your last city - you can fly back to Kathmandu and save time for other activities.

Road Safety

Due to country geographical region, few roads in Nepal that are badly maintained with massive potholes and many are constructed round the terrain which includes winding roads, bends and steep precipices with no safety barriers. Thus, driving during night is particularly dangerous in Nepal and any journey is best done in daylight hours. Also depending upon the weather and traffic conditions, your trip duration might extend but it is very less probability. Advanced Adventures team will assists you over such matters.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is compulsory. You are required to purchase comprehensive travel insurance before travelling with us. Please ensure that you know exactly what you are covered for such as trip cancellation insurance, general medical expenses and hospitalization.

Non-refundable deposit of 20% (per person) is required to confirm a place on your selected trip.

Nepal has a low crime rate and is generally a safe country. Nepal is one of the new democratic countries in the world with many active political parties, ideas and leaders. As such there might be some disturbances in some parts of the country. But it does not affect the daily life of the residents in other parts. Life moves on as usual, unperturbed.

3. Is this tour a private tour or group tour? What is your typical group size for this tour?

9. How fit do I need to be for this tour?

10. What is the best time to do this tour?
This tour is an excellent combination of history and culture. Lumbini is a treasure trove of historical and archaeological relics from the time of Buddha. Best time to visit is throughout the year but we recommend visiting in the months of October and November. April and May are also the best months to visit as it is the months of Buddha Jayanti and the town comes to life. 

11. Are there ATM all over Nepal?
Many bank have opened ATM outlets in most of the city in Nepal. The bank informed the customers owning Visa, MasterCard, Union Pay and SCT can directly withdraw money from its ATM outlets.

Note: In some part of country, the access of ATM is very limited. In such condition, we recommends our traveler to carry few cash for your emergency service.

12. Is giving tip mandatory to guide/driver/porter?
Tipping a guide in Nepal is a small way of honoring them right back. Tipping is also taken as token of love and as a gesture of satisfaction from the guests. There is no fixed tipping rate for guides in Nepal. It is not compulsory to tip in Nepal but it is highly recommended to tip your guide/driver/porter.

Ramgram is the brick mound on the bank of Jharahi River. It is a seven-meter high brick stupa consisting of the relic of Lord Buddha. The stupa was built by the king of Ramgram, who was the eighth king to obtain the Buddha's relics.

After the tour, we continue for a long drive back to Kathmandu. On arrival, check-in at the hotel.

Even for the most seasoned traveler, it's still important to be up to speed on Nepal before you arrive in the country. So here are few things to be considered: 

Best Season 

Nepal has five season temperate climate. Due to its location, landscape and power outages those seasons often dictate when the best time to visit.

Autumn: The peak tourist season is in the autumn between September to late November. This is just after the monsoon season so the air is dry and clear. This is perfect time for visiting Nepal if you are going trekking also.

Winter: December and January are cold winter months throughout Nepal. Though it doesn't snow in any of the main non-trekking cities in Nepal it does hit freezing.

Spring: February to April is Nepal's second busiest tourist season. The climate starts cold but in preceding months get increasingly warm. Flowers in the valleys begin to bloom and there's little rain. It does however get quite hazy so mountain views will be lessened.

Summer: May to June is the start of the pre-monsoon summer. It gets hot and humid with several showers on the hottest of days. Climate change has meant a lengthening of showers. 

Summer (monsoon): June to late August is when the monsoon rains hit Nepal. Climate change again mean that the monsoon may be earlier or later than this. Rain are heavier and there's a risk of flooding in places. The sky is heavy with cloud but it also means blooming flowers and lush green valleys.

Nepal Visa/Entry Requirement 

Nepal visa can be obtained on arrival at the Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu. Your passport needs to be valid for 6 months after your return dates and two passport-size photo with a light background. Nationals of SAARC countries and China do not need visa when visiting Nepal. As per this rule, Indian nationals do not require visa. Transit visa is provided for foreign nationality for 3 days. Visa must be obtained for staying over the initial period of three days.

Money Matter

Always keep your encashment receipt while making foreign exchange payments or exchanging rupees from any foreign currency. You might need the receipt to exchange the money left over from your trip before you leave. Service providers such as hotels, travel agencies, and airlines accept foreign currency for payment of service provided. American Express, Master and Visa are widely accepted by the tourism service providers.  ATM machines are available in most of the cities but many local banks do not offer withdraw service to the foreign cards. You can contact some international banks such as Standard Chartered, Nabil, SBI and Everest to withdraw money from ATM. 

Health Advice

No vaccinations are required. But it's wise to be inoculated against typhoid and hepatitis A. Depending on how long you plan to stay, you may also want to get vaccinations for rabies, meningitis and Japanese encephalitis. We recommends to carry mosquito repellents if you are visiting in summer can be wise or you can buy it in Kathmandu if you are travelling to the southern plain of Nepal. Consulting your doctor is a better idea.

People/Language/Time Difference/Currency

Nepal is a country of mixed settlements of various ethnic groups and castes. They welcome travelers with their best hospitality. Nepalese greet each other by saying "Namaste" joining both palms together meaning "I salute the divine in you". It is used both when people meet and depart. Nepali is the official language. Other Hindu dialects are spoken however English is widely spoken across the country.

All meals in hotels include only breakfast. And on the day of arrival, there is welcome cultural dinner hosted in typical and authentic Nepali restaurant.

Transportation 

In every trip, we use our private transport based on your itinerary. We provide car for 1-3 person, jeep or tourist van for up to 10 persons. We also provide option for flight from Kathmandu to Bhairawa which will be 30 minutes flight instead of 7-8 hours' drive. We recommends to keep at least one-way by road so that you can see landscape and visit natural places along the way. From your last city - you can fly back to Kathmandu and save time for other activities.

Road Safety

Due to country geographical region, few roads in Nepal that are badly maintained with massive potholes and many are constructed round the terrain which includes winding roads, bends and steep precipices with no safety barriers. Thus, driving during night is particularly dangerous in Nepal and any journey is best done in daylight hours. Also depending upon the weather and traffic conditions, your trip duration might extend but it is very less probability. Advanced Adventures team will assists you over such matters.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is compulsory. You are required to purchase comprehensive travel insurance before travelling with us. Please ensure that you know exactly what you are covered for such as trip cancellation insurance, general medical expenses and hospitalization.

Many bank have opened ATM outlets in most of the city in Nepal. The bank informed the customers owning Visa, MasterCard, Union Pay and SCT can directly withdraw money from its ATM outlets.

12. Is giving tip mandatory to guide/driver/porter?
Tipping a guide in Nepal is a small way of honoring them right back. Tipping is also taken as token of love and as a gesture of satisfaction from the guests. There is no fixed tipping rate for guides in Nepal. It is not compulsory to tip in Nepal but it is highly recommended to tip your guide/driver/porter.
