Trip Overview
Chitwan National Park stands as a crown jewel of Asian wildlife sanctuaries. Established in 1973 and inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 1984, this 932-square-kilometer haven boasts an unparalleled richness of flora and fauna located in the verdant lowlands of south-central Nepal.
Chitwan is a haven for endangered species, offering a stage for the majestic one-horned rhinoceros and the elusive Royal Bengal tiger. But the park's tapestry extends far beyond these icons. Leopards, gaurs, sloth bears, monkeys, a dazzling array of deer, and countless crocodiles all contribute to the vibrant ecological drama. Birdwatchers will be awestruck by over 530 species flitting through the lush foliage.
As the oldest and most celebrated of Nepal's 14 national parks, Chitwan offers a multitude of ways to explore its wonders. The jeep safari is a thrilling choice, allowing for close encounters with wildlife. Guided nature walks, and canoe trips on the Rapti River provide alternative perspectives.
Accommodation options cater to various budgets, ranging from luxurious in-park camps and hotels to affordable guesthouses on the periphery. Whether you seek a heart-pounding adventure or a serene communion with nature, Chitwan National Park promises an unforgettable experience.
Note: This program offers a comfortable journey to Chitwan National Park by tourist bus. However, if you're traveling with a group of at least two people and prefer a more personalized experience, you can upgrade to a private car or van for an additional cost of US$80 per person.
