The queen of lakes “Rara Lake” that nestles in the tranquil low alpine region of Wild West Nepal ringed by pine, spruce, juniper and many colorful flowering plants is the largest lake in Nepal, catering exceptional natural delights blended with the astounding panorama of Himalayan peaks.
Our short trek to Rara Lake has so many wonderful highlights in relatively short time period that exclusively offers the highlights of this incredibly beautiful lake and regions in its close proximity. You will have the marvelous opportunity to visit Rara National Park, which is considered to be one of the finest parks in the world and is an ideal habitat for musk deer, Himalayan black bear, leopard, Himalayan goral, and other exotic animals. Moreover, the direct proximity rustic lives of the locals and their daily activities make you real entrance of natural and cultural world.
After a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu for a couple of day’s escapade in the western wilderness, we fly to Nepalgunj and then to Talcha, concrete airstrip in remote west. Hours of trek brings you to Rara Lake. After a day exploration around Rara, the short trek to Rara Lake winds up as we fly back to Talcha and then simultaneously to Kathmandu.

Day 01 Arrival Day in Kathmandu

On arrival to Kathmandu; we will greet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. Later we meet and take you to our office, brief you on the upcoming Trek with us and introduce your trekking guide to Rara Lake Trek. Evening, we host welcome dinner at one of the finest local restaurant in Kathmandu with music and ethnic dance. Overnight at Kathmandu Hotel.
Day 02 Kathmandu Sightseeing
Altitude: 1350m/4428ft

After breakfast we depart for a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu, the “City of Temples” to Visit Durbar Square (place of Palace). The devastating quake has demolished few important monuments of the Durbar Square including with the Kasthamandap temple. However, Kumari Ghar (Home of Living Goddess), Kal Bhairav, Hanuman Dhoka and Taleju Temple stand tall and intact. Afterwards, we will take you to visit Swoyambhunath Stupa, said to be one of the oldest Buddhist stupas in the world and also be said as a monkey temple, which is located at top of the hill from where one can have a great view of Kathmandu Valley. The main stupa of it stands tall but few small monuments ringing the main stupa have fallen down during the quake.
We will drive towards Pashupatinath, which is one of the most important Hindu temples in Nepal. Surprisingly, not a single brick of this biggest Hindu Shrine has been displaced during the quake 2015. After exploring the Pashupatinath temple, we move towards Bouddhanath Temple, Bouddhanath is one of the largest Stupas in South Asia and it has become the focal point of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal. Boudhnath suffered negligible damage during the quake. O/N Kathmandu.
Day 03 Fly to Nepalgunj 1 hr flight
Altitude: 150m/492ft
Activities: one hour Flight

Today until the time you are scheduled to board the flight to lowland town of west Nepal, Nepalgunj, stroll around Thamel on your own. Two hours prior to your flight time, we shall pick you up from your hotel reception and escort you to the domestic section of the airport. An hour long flight above the diverse geography of amazing Nepal brings you to Nepalgunj, the trading center of western Nepal. Get amazed to see the cultural contrast of the country in two different territories and check into your hotel.
Day 04 Fly to Talcha 2950m 25 mins flight and trek to Rara Lake

Activities: Flight 3-4 hrs trek
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

After the short scenic flight above the wilderness of western Nepal, we land at the remote airstrips of Talcha. From Talcha, we begin the trek along the tranquil trails of Rara National Park, emerging frequently in the culturally opulent villages, where trekkers get to see the lifestyle very close to nomadic one. Tread along the peaceful trails dominated by low alpine woodlands and small herbs having medicinal significance. After couple of hours walk or bit more, we arrive to Rara Lake. Savor the magnificence of amazing Rara and its surrounding and at the end of the day accommodate yourselves in the teahouse at the lake shore.
Day 05 Day hike to Chhuchemara Hilltop & Excursion around Rara Lake
Altitude: 4090m/13415ft
Activities: 5-6 hrs Trekking

Today, we have a big day. We shall be involved in boating in the deep and clear Rara Lake in the morning. Then with the packed lunch, we set out for the hiking adventure over the hilltop right above the lake. A wonderful uphill walk along the pleasant forest trail brings us to Chhuchemara Hilltop, which caters the magnificence of nature in all directions. The northern side has dramatically sprawling Himalayan peaks inside Nepal as well as Tibetan territory. In rest of the direction, we sight the beautiful views of lush woodlands surrounding deep valleys and the water sparkling in the crystal clear Rara Lake suggests why we call Rara, the Queen of Lakes. Enjoy the walk o elevated landmark and savor the best of raw nature today during the walk to Chhuchemara Hilltop and from the acme of the hill. In the evening, after we are done with day’s hiking, explore around the lake and soak into the blissfully serene nature.
Day 06 Trek back to Talcha
Altitude: 2950m/9676ft
Activities: Flight 3-4 hrs trek
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: Teahouse/Lodges
Today, enjoy the tremendous beauty of nature at Rara Lake as the sun shines here. Then set off for the journey that retraces the trail back to Talcha. A couple of hours easy trek will bring you back to Talcha. Overnight in Talcha.
Day 07 Morning Fly to Nepalgunj; Afternoon Fly to Kathmandu

Meals Plan: Breakfast & farewell dinner
Accommodation: Hotel in Kathmandu
Today you will fly to Nepalgunj Airport after the breakfast. Then in the afternoon, we will fly to the capital. As we land the domestic section of Kathmandu Airport, we will be escorted to our hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu
Day 08 Depart Kathmandu
Altitude: 1350m Breakfast
Meals: Breakfast
Today you will depart Kathmandu. Breakfast at Kathmandu hotel, then you are free for shopping at the Kathmandu. When the time to depart back comes, we will transfer you to the airport. Have a safe flight and visit Nepal time and again.
